Overview

The order book is a snapshot that changes many times a second. Liquidity X-Ray, a liquidity heatmap, turns that stream into a picture: price on one axis, time on the other, and color intensity showing how much resting liquidity was displayed at each price at each moment.

Large resting orders appear as bright horizontal bands. You can see them build, see price react to them, and see them pulled before price arrives. It is one of the clearest ways to see the structure that a price chart alone does not show. Its demonstration pairs the heatmap with a depth ladder and a 3D view of the book.

Capabilities

What It Is Designed to Do

Intended capabilities. The released feature may differ.

Displayed liquidity over time

Resting order size by price, plotted continuously as a heat map behind price.

Depth concentration

Bands highlight prices where unusually large liquidity is displayed.

Liquidity changes

See orders added, pulled or consumed as price approaches.

Potential liquidity zones

Persistent bands mark areas worth watching — as context, not as predictions.

3D book view

An exploratory three-dimensional view of depth over time and price.

In practice

Workflow & Limits

Intended workflow

  1. Open the heatmap for an instrument.
  2. Identify persistent liquidity bands near price.
  3. Watch how price behaves as it approaches them.
  4. Cross-check with the depth ladder and aggressor tape.

What to keep in mind

  • A heatmap shows displayed liquidity only. Hidden or iceberg orders are not visible, and displayed orders can be cancelled at any time.
  • For NSE/BSE instruments the depth comes through broker data integrations, so the number of levels and symbols that can be watched at once is limited.
  • This page describes a feature in development. It is not available to use yet.

Data requirementRequires order-book (market depth) data. For NSE/BSE instruments the terminal is planned to use depth delivered through broker data integrations, so the number of levels and symbols available depends on what those integrations provide. The view is live-only; recorded depth history depends on future licensing.
