Overview

Some setups are easier to point at than to describe. A particular consolidation shape, a specific kind of reversal — traders recognize these visually long before they can write them down as rules.

The pattern scanner is designed to accept an example — an uploaded chart image or a region selected on a chart — and search for price structures that look similar, both in historical data and in current markets. Matches are shown side by side with the reference so you can judge the resemblance yourself.

Capabilities

What It Is Designed to Do

Intended capabilities. The released feature may differ.

Reference by example

Upload a chart image or select a region on an existing chart as the pattern to find.

Similarity search

Price structures are compared by shape, so matches can be found across different price levels and scales.

Side-by-side review

Each match is displayed next to the reference pattern for visual comparison.

Historical outcomes

For historical matches, what price did afterwards can be reviewed — as research, not as a forecast.

In practice

Workflow & Limits

Intended workflow

  1. Choose a reference pattern by uploading an image or selecting chart bars.
  2. Set the universe and timeframe to search.
  3. Review matches ranked by visual similarity.
  4. Open any match into a full chart.

What to keep in mind

  • Visual similarity is not predictive accuracy. Similar-looking patterns can and do resolve differently.
  • No matching-accuracy figures are claimed for this feature.
  • Planned for after the initial release; it is not part of the first release's scope.
  • This page describes a feature in development. It is not available to use yet.
